Background: Natalie from Columbus is 14 years old and has always loved to write. She finds that writing is a great outlet for her emotions. DISCLAIMER: I traditionally do not accept student writing for publication. However, Natalie won a contest that I sponsored for several English classes. Thus, this exception was made. Should you choose to comment on her work, please email me and appropriate ones will be forwarded to her through her teacher. – Bob

Who I am

I'm just one person,
Just one child.
I'm supposed to be myself.
But who am I?

I search my room.
I search my house.
I search my mind
And my past.

But I still don't know who I am.

I look toward my faith,
My family
And my friends.
But I don't know who I am.

I look in the mirror and I see myself,
But I don't know who I see.

A doctor, a lawyer?

I look back at my reflection,
“Who do you want to be?”
And I know who I am.
